Urinary Tract Infection Consultations


A urinary tract infection is a common condition that affects the urinary system, most often the bladder.


Common symptoms may include:

  • Pain or burning when passing urine
  • Feeling the need to urinate more frequently

  • A feeling that the bladder has not completely emptied

What is a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)?

Some patients experiencing symptoms of an uncomplicated urinary tract infection may be suitable for assessment by a participating pharmacist.


Eligibility is determined by the pharmacist during your consultation in accordance with Victorian Community Pharmacist Program requirements and approved clinical protocols.


Assessment may take into consideration:

  • Your age
  • Your symptoms
  • Medical history
  • Current medicines
  • Other relevent health information


Not all patients will be suitable for pharmacist management. Depending on your circumstances, referral to a doctor or another healthcare provider may be recommended.

What Happens During a UTI Consultation?
